Whitewater has been lacking in snow this past week & half, but the glorious med blue skies have more than made up for the lack of white fluffy stuff.
Todays average temp: -12 with a high of -3. Higher in the sunshine
Base at Summit: 155cms / 61 inches
Despite the lack of snow, spirits are high as locals are safe in the knowledge the powpow is on it's way. We had the same thing happen at exactly the same time last January. After two weeks of pure sunshine, it cacked it large!!!
Avy conditions at Whitewater are pretty decent right now. Ymir bowl has released in areas so the sunshine has helped pack down any loose snow. The Patrol are keeping a close eye on high avy risk areas throughout the day, and if they feel anywhere is becoming a risk due to the intense sunshine they have been closing it in the afternoons.
Riding today up at the hill was awesome. It was just like a spring day in March or April, glorious! Who'd have thought you could ride in a hoody in Jnauary - come on!!! haha Some areas of the hill were bullet proof and you soon realised to stay well clear, but the groomers were nice and soft and some areas of the trees provided sweet technical lines. All in all another frikkin rad day of riding at WH2O!
For guys & gals looking to visit the hill over the next week or so, we're due flurries over the next few days, with Tuesday providing the biggest dump. But as we all know this can change in an instant!
