After a monster dump the past weekend and start of the week its finally settled and Verbier is starting to sort itself out for the season, currently sitting at 115cm on the main Attelas - Ruinettes piste its a great start to the season. |

Currently the mountain is only open to instructors training for the season and only the main run from L'Olympique to Medran is open; but from this weekend the lifts open to the public and the 2 Lac De Vaux lifts will open offereing a bit more riding. Sadly La Chaux - The fun area to the left of the mountain which hosts the park and the passage to Mont Fort - is off limits as theyve only just starting to prepare it in the last day or so.
The snow atm is fantastic and from tuesday when we were allowed onto the mountain the runs were well groomed and the off-piste was amazing with about 2 foot of fresh. Although as all you verbier regs will know this didnt take long to get tracked out.
The Verbier Park in La Chaux is scheduled to open the 15th December for a freestyle ski and snowboard competition, should be open to the public the following week. New shaper and supposedly more funding this year should mean a better park than last years which was pretty awful, so hopefully it'll bring in a few more snowboarders this season.
Tuesday snowed all day and had another dump that night so wednesday was a perfect blue bird with another foot of fresh for playing in.
As of now we are due another big dump tonight (thursday) and friday will be my last training day on the mountain so I'll not really be able to check up on it next week apart from tuesday.
From Sunday 7th I'll be based in Crans Montana for the season so I'll be reporting from there after that, but what I can say is its going to be a monster season there, currently sitting at 270cm compared to Verbiers 115cm which is seriously impressive seeing as its only 2 hours up the road.
Anyhoo, have a good one anyone whos hitting Verbier or any of the swiss resort in the next month or so as its all ready to rip up, just thought I'd give you a heads up on the conditions over this part of the country while I'm here. I'll hopefully be getting a new camera next week instead of nabbing other peoples pics so i'll get some vids of the Crans Park once i get there.
Cheers,
Chris |
