Silver Star: Conditions are just getting better and better

Given how sparse the snow has been in most of B.C. this year, Silver Star is truly living up to its name.
With 10 cm last night on top of the 20 we got on Thursday, the entire mountain is in great shape. Even though we are still slightly below 2 m. as a base the quality of the snow is what its all about here. While Shames Mountain in the north west has twice the base (see recent review) I have to say that there is nothing like Okanagan champagne powder! What makes it all the more remarkable is how localized the snow has been this year. Big White, Silver Star’s sister resort, has not had nearly as good snow this year for some reason and Revelstoke, usually the standout for volume in the area, is well down on normal.

Choice runs of the last few days have been White Elephant, Pipeline and Hinky Heights on the backside as well as the glades at Silver Meadows.

Predicting the weather has truly been a black art this year. However, if the forecast is correct we should expect a new weather front, and more snow, by the end of the week.

Bring it on!
