15th July 2009: Excellent riding around the whole resort at Mt Hutt - both on and off piste. Still untracked if you know where to look.
There's been around 1 metre of new snow since my last report, bringing the base up to its highest level in the last 10 years. Gutted that I missed an epic day on Monday, which was bluebird and 25cm fresh, but apparently I have to work sometimes.

Forecast was saying light snow and a cloudy morning - true it was snowing down low, but nothing worth writing about. The cloud layer was sitting half way up the mountain for a couple of hours then dropped back down, leaving us on top with plenty sun. Despite no new snow for 2 days, everything was in excellent condition - powder on piste and tracked off-piste.

South Face was riding pretty well and the traverse over to Top of Towers is waaay better than last year - all rideable. Best was round at the Bluffs - still plenty deep untracked lines, down across the road and to the triple chair. Loving it round there!

Vis was still keeping the Rakaia Chutes closed - can't believe how many times I've missed riding them now. No queues at all, not looking that busy still, even though it's the 2nd week of the school hols.

Bits of snow forecast for the weekend but it is getting a bit windier again - has been a strangely calm July so far :D. Will try and get myself to another mountain soon. Here's a few pics:
