| Still plenty of snow, just that it is wind swept and very hard. |

Merry Christmas everyone. There is still plenty of snow out here but it is now very wind blown in both directions and hard packed with lots of icy patches. Watch out for black ice on the paths when you are walking around , it hurts when you slip over!
The off piste is totally blown, with ridges and hard slabs mixed with crust. For me at least not what i call fun.
The tops were closed a few times in the last week and there were a few avalanches after the recent falls but now the wind has changed directions and blow from the north east which has taken the snow off the north facing slopes and left everthing mixed up. You can still find the odd pocket of soft snow which has been blown into a gully, but not that much.
On the piste much the same story but you can still ride down to all stations, watch out for the stones coming through in some places and the icy patches where you can catch your edge and go flying.
Time to pray to the snow gods again. If anyone is coming out to Les Arcs stop by the Chez Bou Bou bar most days betweeb 6 - 7pm for a chat, just ask for snowcrazy at the bar or up on the slopes at the altiport near the snow park between 4 - 4.30pm most afternoons. Hope to see some of you out here. Would be good to meet some of those that read these reports. |
