Sorry Ive been busy the last couple of weeks with work and shiz so havent had a chance to get on here, anyhoo, the park in Aminona (30-45mins from Crans) opened on the 21st December and its guuuud.
Since the first week I arrived when we had that big 4ft dump we havent had any snow fall so as you can imagine the main pistes were getting pretty damn horrible and icy, and teaching beginners on this crap was next to impossible, but finally we got another big dump on new years eve which was awesome and the mountains in a bit better shape. |

So, yeah as i was saying, the park in Aminona is up and running and its in pretty good shape. Ive had the luck to have had 2 weeks off already this season, which i spent lapping the park all day every day.
On the left (progression park) we have 2 real small blues, then 2 nice fun small reds great for starting your rotations on, very forgiving. then 2 shortish, fat mofo rails, great for getting started on your jibbing then down to the wall ride which was put in last week.
on the right (advanced level) we have a big red and black combo jump then flat down rail and c-box, then another big red and black combo followed by yet another. all are very nicely shaped and youll feel very comfortable hucking yourself off them after a couple of hits.
down the middle we have an up/flat/down box, a 10 metre flatbox, a mental snake rail and a down rail, alongside 2 nice midsized reds. and that sums up the park so far with plenty of space for more hits in future. I'll try get some pics of the park tomorrow and upload them this week.
On the piste side of things things arent too great. the lack of snowfall is getting to us and there are some really bad hardpacked icy patches everywhere. down from the main runs on pas du loup and grand signal the piste has been well maintained but you only have to take a run down nationale to see the dire conditions at the bottleneck areas. monster ice patches destroying everyone who runs across them. its actually pretty funny to just sit at the side and watch all the unsuspecting skiiers smash themselves on it.
On the bright side we have had some fantastic weather the last 2 weeks and its been bluebird all the way, especially on new years day after a massive snowdump the night before the skies were clear and work was much more bearable despite the hangover.
Heres hoping for some more snowfall this weekend and ill try get on here more often to spill the conditions of this fine mountain now that the wifis back up and running :D
Edit: Heres a piss about in movie maker of me and a mates first week in the aminona park, sorry for the lack of style on my behalf (SB Circa Jacket) but yeah, first week and lack of practice ;D Just for a rough idea of the set up.
