Chamonix is basking in blue skies but also having the coldest temps of the season so far.
Here in Chamonix this past week got under way with the arrival of a lot of people into the valley. The clear skies are providing plenty of sunshine but the temperatures have seen a big fall from previous weeks.

The last few days have seen morning temps as low as minus 15 degrees with the afternoons not managing to reach above 0 degrees. The wind on Friday has all but killed any off piste riding and also has managed to knock over several large trees in valley temporarily bocking some roads.

Today at Brevent the piste conditions were very good early in the morning with fresh groomed slopes all over the mountain and for the early bird there was also very few people around. The Charles Bozon black run from the top of Brevent at 2500m was good to ride in the morning but by late morning though the crowds had arrived and riding around on the pistes was a game of dodge the speeding idiots.

Forecast for the Chamonix valley over the next few days is for a rise in temperature which should make the late afternoon riding a little more fun.
