Wanaka is unreal. It has 3 world class resorts within a 50 min radius of this beautiful funky town. Set on the side of Lake Wanaka, the town itself is uncomplicated yet cultural. Plenty of wicked coffee shops, bars & pubs as well as snow shops and crazy unique cinema. However its the riding in the area that sets the standard. Closest to Wanaka is Treble Cone. The largest skiable area in the south island of NZ and known for steep challenging terrain, TC is THE PLACE TO BE on a pow day with over 700 meters of vert and plenty of wide open runs, 3 natural halfpies, 3 open basins, if you want to challenge yourself as well as have the best view going, TC,it has to be! The whole mountain has natural drops, hits, gaps, gullies chutes and runs. Natures playground. USA, AUstrian, Canadian,German ski race teams have all trained here.
