I was a bit scpetical about the Fastec System, but I have to say I am very pleased with these bindings. The quality of materials, the tech involved, the adjustability for that custom fit and feel to your ride style and overall support and responce is, in short, excellent. Coming from riding, Ride EX's I noticed the difference immediately. Edge to edge responce was instantaneous.
With the fold down high back and the quick release foot stap, you just slip your foot in, high back up, qucik release down and your good to go. each boot takes less than 10 seconds to be ready to ride. They only drawback is first installation. It took me 3 hours to dial in the settings. As the toe strap isnt adjustable on the move like traditional ratchets. The upper strap can be used like a traditional ratchet, just to tinker while on the move if you need more or less support.
It was a case of trial and error for the first fit. in and out until you pinpoint where you need to adjust, tighten, loosen, and readjust for the perfect fit. That being said, once it's done, it's done, and I just slip in strap down and go every time from here on in.
The trick thing I like is the quick release strap. Once the highback is secure, you can pop this up while on the lifts or during a quick drink break and let ease the pressure on your boot without getting out of the binding completely. A quick click back down, and I am ready to go again. Overall I am very impressed with initial ride of these. I had a full day riding hard packed ice in Scotland yesterday, and if I can ride that no probs, I can ride anything. |
