| Review Detail |
Thought I'd go for Austria again this year and somewhere a little more off the beaten track. Nassfeld is pretty much off the standard brit rider's radar so it seemed ideally situated on the Austro-Italian-Slovenian border
Apart from the Animal Snowcamp we were pretty much the only British on the slopes - so the German speakers were useful. The other punters were generally German, Slovenian, italian or locals
The resort itself is pretty much in a state of growth, its a fair size already but they will shortly be opening new lifts and expanding into two new valleys to add to 110km of piste give it a year or two and time for the town to catch up and it will be a top location.
The town is pretty small and is dominated by The Cube, a trendy hostel with bars and a club as well as other entertainment facilities (prices based on half board + liftpass) apart from that the place is pretty sparse with only two other bars (Austian oompa techno bar full of surly middle aged austrians and the Pizzeria bar/club full off comatose austrian kids soiling themselves and waving their dicks about)

| Strengths |
The resorts had plenty of reds for all the piste blasters out there with little hits all over the place. The snow was consistent although most mornings the light was flat & misty , but the sun burnt through by lunchtime. its not a high resort- but the snow fell frequently and there are plenty of snow blowers topping it up.
No real lift queues
Being a celebrity - Snowboarders are rare and being a British snowboarder made you an object of curiosity
Cheapish on slope food - you can eat on the slopes for about €4 if you can handle garlic or liver dumpling soup if you spend €10 at lunch , you won't be able to ride cos your belly would be so full
Cheapish pints €2.60 at the Cube Sports Bar (where if you ask nicely you can watch premiership footie)
No Brits looking the part but riding like fart, clogging up the slopes apart from the Animal Camp ;) |

| Hot Spots |
| For me the best bit was the freeride areas at either end of the resort, with cliffs and rollers to chuck yourself off and as long as you got off at the right point there would be no serious hike to the next lift to do another lap (off the top of lift 7 and off the Rastl bubble) - you'll be pretty much left with the areas to yourself, although evidence of local riders manifest as offpiste kicker lines after decent snowfall in these areas. |

| Weaknesses |
The Park - the one advertised on the Nassfeld website is not their park. The nassfeld park comprised: 1 Red Kicker 3 bunny boxes (flat, rainbow & flat down) 3 Proper boxes (Flat, wave & wide box)
The lack of cruisy blues for beginners - there are some bunny slopes but they are short and not great for getting the practise in (we had a total newb who was a little frustrated with drilling himself on reds or doing endless laps on a poma) A couple of Ideal slopes for beginners are only acessed by a 10 minute T-bar and a couple of reds
Not much Nightlife apart from on Fridays
The Transfer - getting to the place you have 3 options: Ryanair to Kagenfurt (from Stanstead) 1 hr transfer To Venice with BA (3 hour transfer) To Salzburg with whoever (3.5 hour transfer)
A taxi from Klagenfurt will cost €30-50 A taxi for 10+ from Venice or Salzburg will cost over €1000 return for the whole party |
