| Review Detail |
Mt Hutt, is another one of the smallish resorts located on the south island of New Zealand. I was staying in Christchurch, and it took about an hour and a half to get to the slopes via bus, as Mt Hutt itself is just a mountain, not a town in itself, so you cannot stay there.
I had a pretty good day on the slopes when I visited. The snow conditions were good, and the area itself was slightly bigger, and more intersting than Coronet Peak.
It was a bit more geared towards boarders, with some jumps, and a set of rollers which were really good fun. There was a resturant and bar, where you could refresh yourself at lunch, although it was quite busy.
I saw a load of boarders hiking off towards a ridge, and I was told by locals that there was almost always some decent powder available if you were willing to hike for it.
Overall, a nice little ski area. Great place to spend a few days riding, though I think you would get bored if you spent an entire week here, as there really isn't that much terrain accessable via the lifts. |

You cannot stay at the mountain, nearest major town (Christchurch) is 1.5hours away. I think there is another small town a bit closer though.
Small ski area.
No other shops or bars at the mountain. |
