| Visited as part of an 8 week tour. Parked the RV up in the car park (20 yards from the lift) and it didn't move for 5 days. 5 or 6 other crews doing the exact same thing, so the evenings were a blast meeting people from all over the globe. Nights were a haze of smoking the local bud and drinking the MGD..... The ski in/out RV was the way to do it, as the nearest town (Glacier) was a good 30 mins drive away. The resort manager knocked on our door every night to let us know he was locking up the main gate and to take it steady. Every morning we had fresh snow at least a foot deep. All the local riders were super friendly, willing to show you runs we wouldn't have found. Some of the off piste just blew me away. I left Mt Baker with a permenant grin that only a surgeon could have removed with a scapel. We had a blast......... Would return in a heart beat..... |

| Strengths |
| Powder, powder, powder. Excellent off piste, Mainly locals as tour operators just don't do this resort. |
|
| Hot Spots |
| Too many to list. Get chatting to a lifty or a local and they'll give you a heads up. |
|
| Weaknesses |
| Having to leave. Oh and the dude in snow plough/digger clearing the car park at 6am only a few feet from my window - but I guess him clearing snow, means more fresh snow ;-) |

2004 looking for a new place to board and then reading the reviews in WSG "If sex was a mountain, Mt Baker would be the orgasm".

Thought i'd take a look at flights to Seattle and and then drive up to Mt Baker, £234 return !! Hire of a Grand Jeep Cherokie £350 for 10 days.
Then to find accomodation; www.mtbakerviewguesthouse.com $125 for two adults per night extra guests $10 a night at todays prices. £864 pounds (week £605) Own appartment, mountain views, private hot tub.... 2 mins walk to a great bar with pool and cheap beer.
£1700 for 10 days of the best boarding, no lift queue's, cheap parses and great food. To put a downer on it I went there at $2 to the pound. £850 for two people and 10 days on the slopes. ;-)
Powder Powder, no slope gromming it does not need it !
Snowfall Average annual snowfall: 16.38metres Artificial snowmaking coverage: 0 (see av. snowfall!)%

We arrived on the friday and were told as it was the weekend. It would be busy at the lift's. Hmmm never had a queue once. At the busiest time we had 8 people in front of us. Mostly we just boarded onto the seats. Monday was Presedents day, a public holiday I counted 10 people once. All the runs are quiet, with a great park. The rest of the week we were on our own.
We had a dump of powder on the 4th day, which meant most runs were waist deep.... :-) |

Heather meadows were flat... But a good fast run in would see you across. We did think that the days were going to be short on the hill. Lifts opend at 9 and closed at 4 with no lights. But it turned out that with no queues we boarded so much in a day there was no need to be there late.
40 minute drive each way from chalet to the snow. |
