Well......... I did my Maverix course and despite being absolutely f**ked at the end of it (must be getting old or something) it was excellent ! Phil from Maverix was great, really easy to understand and he immediately picked up on my mistakes.

Managed to get down my boardslides reasonably ok but was a little aprehensive in comitting myself but thanks to the encouragement from the the other guys (and gal) I got down down to it.
Also worked on my presses - nose and tail, b/s and f/s 180's and some good flatland techniques to get me into 360's.

The only thing I didn't get to do was do was a rail -which I did give Phil on my list of to do's, but hey it was a great day, learned a lot and had loads of fun, which is what it's all about.

We had a little flack from the Cas staff for using the kicker behind the kiddies tobboganning and tubing area but Phil managd to talk them round.

So, all said and done my advice is get yourself on one of these courses - you cant go wrong
Strengths
Good understanding of the pupils needs.

Good observational techniques so able to spot where youre going wrong and make the necessary corrections.

Good mix of abilities catered for.
Weaknesses
Just the one I mentioned above where the Castleford staff wouldn't let us use the kicker but didn't really offer an alternative readily.

Both my 9 year old daughter and I at age 42 have attended the Maverix one day events at Snozone Milton Keynes. We both already had some freestyle experience and a far amount of coaching from different sources. I have to say straight off that we were both very impressed by the organisation and structure of the Maverix course, from arranging the parking to laying out the features on the slope. On both times we attended the coaches were very clear in their instruction and had a strong grasp of everyone's strengths and weakness, they were also able to provide all of us on the group with a huge amount of fun and laughter. The progressive development that is promoted by Maverix, takes you from flatland movements to rails and kickers in a very clear and smooth process. Before the session had finished I had gone from sketchy 180’s over kickers to spinning 360’s with grabs. My daughter also found the coaching to be very child friendly and incredibly confidence boosting. By splitting the day into two half’s the first on kickers and the second on rails, this really allowed you time to focus on each part of your riding. The video analysis was also a very cool way of seeing just how bad or good you looked, and what exactly you were doing wrong and needed to be corrected. We both enjoyed the course so much that we have already booked in for the two day session and ‘one trick pony sessions on offer for 2009.
Strengths
I would say the strengths of the course are the passion and skill of the coaches in assessing each individuals weaknesses in their riding and developing a progressive learning curve for each person to achieve their goals required. Also the clear picture painted by video analysis and the ‘on slope’ review of footage really helped to gain a self awareness of how to improve your tricks.
Weaknesses
I would really struggle to come up with any weaknesses for this course, perhaps the problem of how busy the actual facility in our case Snozone at Milton Keynes can become. But that would be subject to the time of year you attend the course, and is inevitable when using any of our UK facility’s for such events.
