Even though Leysin is very small I was there for a week but didn't get tired of it - despite going down the same runs numerous times as some of the runs are excellent.
It dumped about 6 inches on my first day yet a week later there was still plenty of fresh tracks to be had but only if you travelled to the far edge of the resort. There's one main life and all the runs centered around there are very busy but you only have to travel as far away as you can get and it becomes very very quiet, I just couldn't understand why n*body bothered to venture very far but I'm glad they didn't.
You can board all the way down to the village but its not a very high resort and so it melts revealing lots of mud etc.
The village itself is pretty cute.
There's a tiny restaurant, about room for 12 people tucked away at the top of the mountain which is easy to miss if you don't know its there, its a small family run place where they don't speak any english and serve some interesting dishes and make s great traditional swiss change from the big restaurnat place at the top of the main lift.
One day I was there the wind was blowing too much so they shut all the lifts though I don't know if this was a common occurence. (I didn't want to miss out on a day's boarding so can you believe it I actually walked all the way up the mountain, took me all morning and just when I got to the top the lifts opened!!!! Still I did lose a couple of inches from my waist as a consequence ;-))
Strengths
Deserted runs if you travel as far as possible away from the main area.
Weaknesses
Melting snow at lower levels, small size means you can cover all the terrain in just a few days, some runs are great so its not a problem if you're only staying a week but I imagine it'd get monotonous any longer after that.

Thought it was about time I got round to reviewing this resort. We did a trip to Switzerland and stayed with some friends in Montreaux, from there we visited a 4 resorts while out there.

Leycin is a small resort and was really busy when we were there because it was a Fri and the local school was having there ski trip.

Nice terrain quite a bit of off piste, a few button bars but nothing to bad. Decant food and they have one of the 3 revolving restaurants in Switzerland "Berneuse Mountain" (2048m).
Strengths
Nice terrain
Good lift, Gondolas
Weaknesses
Can get busy

well, i actually went to school here for 2 years, so i am quite attached to the place. having boarded here for two years, im pretty sure ive done every single run, and i must say, that although the place is quite small (can be fully covered in less than a day), if you catch it on a nice powder day, this place kicks ass. There is a descent powder run off every skilift, and there are always people building kickers everywhere, for something a little less daunting than the snowpark. the only thing you have to watch out for are the occasional cliffs, it is quite a rocky area. Snowpark this year has a couple rails, a 150m long, 6m high superpipe, another smaller halfpipe, and some pretty impressive jumps. for beginners, 'sunnyside' is very good, but unluckily, you have to take a steeper run down to get there, or walk for quite a bit. Intermediates will love it here, but advanced would perhaps find it a bit boring. on a nice powder day, try the backcountry...
Strengths
Nice off piste, if you know where to go
Nice snowpark
very sunny
Weaknesses
not always that much snow
quite small
