I stumbled across the Over 30s Mini Camp via Google. It sounded perfect for me - lessons to improve technique and get me into the park, some afternoon guiding & a ready-made crew to ride with. Plus no worries about being too old! Those were the basics, but the overall package was a whole lot better than that. The teaching really was great - Tammy's got a gift for breaking things down into simple tips, plus huge patience and smiles. Glenda and Kirsty guided us the rest of the time and were also fab & very flexible (i.e. cafe stops whenever we wanted, but it was also Kirsty egging me on to do my first frontside 180). Chalet Atelier was cosy & warm, just a short walk away from the Prodains cablecar, with top food and top staff. Add to this a pilates session, a quiz (with points for artistic effort in bling-making), a tech session, a hard drive full of snowboard movies and 80s schlock, free lifts back from Morzine at the end of our nights out, etc. etc. - basically, the Just team work flat out to make sure you have a fab time. And I did. The whole atmosphere was great - no testosterone-driven competitiveness, just lots of laughs with fellow Just4Girls campers. Book now.

Can't really think of any.
OK, if you insist:- (1) It was a Mini-Camp. A whole week's camp for me next time. (2) And I still managed to be the oldest, even at the Over 30s camp (sigh)...

I cant agree more with the previous post and review, spot on.
The Mountain Mavericks/ Just Snowboard / Mint School Combi is a winning formula and long may it reign supreme!
For a truly up-lifting, welcoming, funny, thorough, insightful, challenging & complete snowboard experience you cant go far wrong but to book a week on one of these camps.
I am a bit stuck for words because this camp was SO good, the happy memories that I have of the week spent in the care of these guys will stay with me forever.
If you do one thing this winter, book yourself onto one of their camps - You wont regret it.

This was my best weeks snowboarding ever! I've been riding for years and completely hit a plateau. I had some spare money and time, so decided to do a camp. I wanted one that encompassed the whole mountain, but covered jumps n stuff too, as I was terrified of leaving solid ground. This camp looked ideal, and after a quick chat with Olly (one of the founders), I was convinced. He seemed dead friendly and accommodating, and reassured me this camp was exactly right for me, and that I wouldn’t be an oddball going on my own.
From the start I knew it was going to be a fab holiday. After years of renting budget ski apartments I nearly died of shock at the quality of the chalet. Space! Warmth! Ensuite walk in wet rooms with continual hot water and power showers! And, a hot tub! Then the food. I am a fussy eater, and I'm totally sick of cheesy potatoey mountain food. The food here was gourmet, and to be honest, a damn sight better than you get in most French restaurants. Ryan is an awesome chef. Glenda takes chalet maiding to a whole other level, and being woken up by a cup of tea and an Irish chuckle every morning is how all your holiday days should begin.
The snowboard instruction was spot on. Tammy knew just the right things to say, and also knew when not to push you cos your head was swimming with info/booze/pain. I realised I’ve never been taught how to snowboard properly, despite snowbaording for years, and suddenly my riding clicked into place and it was all much easier! Having lessons in the morning, and then just rolling around in the snow with guided instruction in the afternoon (and lots of vin chaud and hot choclate stops) was perfect. It was so cool being on a camp with all girls, we had an absolute ball. No competition, just lots of hollering “You go girl”at each other, and the inevitable sing alongs on the ski lifts.
The social side was spot on too. It was great that the organisers and chalet staff join in with everything, it made for a fantastically chilled atmosphere.
I enjoyed this holiday so much that I’m now going to do a season in Morzine this winter, and hook up with everyone I met on this camp. |

Initially I was keen to go on a camp as I wanted another week's snowboarding and none of my mates could come with me- chose the Just camps as I’d had previous lessons with Mint and knew how good they were. The camp was a perfect way to go on holiday and improve my boarding in one hit. The Just team ( Mountain Mavericks & Mint) truly put their all into making sure that you have a fulfilling week without pushing you to do anything you don't want to. They also lay on activities in the evening - including a Pilates inspired stretching session- so good after a strenuous day- the chalet hot tub is also a god send. The guys also lay on a great party- feel free to challenge the chalet staff to a dance off! A top weeks holiday, with great people and a no-brainer for return trips! |

I found J4G after a friend recommended them. I had such a great time and my riding and confidence improved so much, it's now a major part of my snowboarding year. Going back for my 3rd time this year am looking forward to cathing up with others I have met on the 2 previous times. Tammy and adam from Mint who now do the instruction are amazing, so patient and informative, the best instructors I've had over the last 7 years. The accommodation is super nice, good location, lovely bedding, 4 course dinner and plenty of wine. But what really makes the camp is the attention to detail of Olly, Emma and tammy to make the whole package work so well and create a really great relaxed and fun atmosphere. |
