I has been attending Grounded Freestyle Coaching sessions at Hemel Hempsted Snowcentre a couple of times before deciding to go on the Laax trip. I met Dave who is one of the nicest friendly and open person who is driven and devoted to what he does. I went on the camp over the Brits Ski/snowboard competition was taking place, this gave me the chance to see the pro's in action. Dave also kindly introduced us to some of them and we got the chance to ride a couple of runs with them which I will never forget.
The course itself was with Dave and two other people so a very small group which was great. The first day we spent riding off piste which I have never really done before. It wasn’t freestyle but the conditions were perfect and Dave knew exactly where to go. We did do freestyle while off pisteing.
The rest of the camp was spent looking at our riding technique as well as learning and perfecting tricks, before we left on holiday Dave asked us what we want from the course so no time was wasted on something I already knew how to do. He also took videos of us doing the tricks so we can analyse them ourselves when we get back to the hotel room. This way helped me as I could see exactly what I was doing before takeoff, mid air and landing so I could improve. I loved every day of riding with the group and felt a part of a group of mates having fun on the mountain which is what it’s really all about. My snowboarding has improved massively from this camp, It would have taken me a hell of a lot longer (maybe never) to learn what I did on my own. I hope I can afford to go on next years camp! |

Dave organised everything except the flights for me, gave clear instructions on how to get to Laax from the airport. Upon arrival we had a very warm (and cold beer) welcome when were introduced to the rest of the group. The amazing coaching done by Dave, pushed me and kept me thinking about my riding all day and night! He knew exactly what I was doing and how to improve it and most importantly push Myself! I wish I could do it all over again! (and for longer)

This course was set in the great resort of Laax during the Brits in March 2011. Great to see all the British pro's, very inspiring.
I have been snowboarding for a long time and consider myself pretty compentant but my progression has levelled in the last few years. The GFC course was ideal for perfecting things I wanted to learn and introducing a whole bunch of stuff to try that I hadn't thought of. There were only 3 of us (never met before) and Dave made us feel really comfortable, like riding with mates. There was a lot of general snowboarding technique which I found realy useful and instantly applicable to freestyle.
Dave arranged accomodation for us which we didn thave to take up but was really useful, he was also really helpful with ravel advice and arranging our liftpasses. |

GFC focosses on small groups, the tuition is constrant throughout the day and very good at breaking down the components of freestyle tricks and general snowboarding technique.
Very relaxed, just like riding with pals.
I really progressed my riding, after 10 years of snowboarding I have a new found passion for it. |
