| Review Detail |
Gressoney La Trinité is a small resort in the Aosta valley about an hour and three quarters from Turin. The resort is linked to several areas with the main ones being Alagna and Champoluc (not in the same valley so may be a costly taxi ride back if you get stuck in either of these).
You can buy a Gressoney weekly bus pass for €5 if you want to travel up and down the valley.
The runs are graded blue, red and black with the most being red which range from easyish to steepish (in the La Trinité area). I did make a wrong turn and went down the Jolanda 1 (black), not a good idea as this was super steep, ended up just edging down the section till it met the red Jolanda run. If you are not a confident rider then this is not really the area for you.
Unfortunately it had not snowed since the 31st of December so the links between areas was for the most part closed. I did not get a chance to go over to Champoluc or Alagna. The slopes with snow making were in good condition but the quality of those not having this it was variable. With an abundance of snow the area would be fantastic.
The area lift pass was €174, not the most expensive but I don’t think that I got my monies worth due to the conditions.
I stayed in the Hotel Du Four which was not too bad but could have been better. The walls are quite thin, and the food was OK but not as good as I would have liked.
This is definitely not the area to stay in if you are looking for a party. It is very laid back with most of the nightlife centred in the hotels, though there are a few bars and restaurants. I can recommend the Dia Duex (not sure of the spelling), in the English the Duke named after the owner/chiefs dog (restaurant) and the Castore Bar a night out for 5 (5 rounds) came to €41 (I think they may have made a miscalculation) |
|
| Strengths |
1) Small village picturesque setting, lots of frozen waterfalls. 2) No queues 3) Some nice walking paths if you like that. 4) Not expensive once you are there. 5) Lift 2 minutes from the hotel |
|
| Weaknesses |
1) Crystal, very unhappy with the transfer, 3.5 hours between landing and collecting baggage and coach leaving the airport. 2) Not a good place for those that like to party hard 3) Poor value for money, the money paid to Crystal that is , not the lift pass or money shelled out once there. 4) Lack of snow, hence the 3.5 rating. |
