Review Detail
The Envi is considered an all-mountain free ride board, a directional twin. This board has rocker between and bindings and camber on the outside the bindings and magna traction. (C2 BTX by Mervin) Envi stands for the environmental way it's constructed, beans, bamboo, etc. In the past I've had boards I like with graphics I hate, but the Envi is simple and elegant. No snakes or birds or rainbows-- just paint drippings on a bamboo background. I have the 147. I don't go in the park very much at all and bought this for all mountain riding.
Strengths
The Envi is very easy to turn and easy to carve. It has a fast base and doesn't feel chattery riding fast. It is damp and smooth riding. It rides very well on hard pack and holds and edge well on steep skied-off runs. Recently I got to ride it in powder. It floats nicely and the nose stays up with very little effort. It is so easy to turn that I have to ride it with very little effort in the softer stuff. The board floats over a a lot of choppy stuff as well.

The Envi is a pretty forgiving board. I was practicing riding switch with it the other day and I didn't catch any edges. I'm sure the rocker helps. I have read reviews of some boards that find the magna traction too grippy. I have not found this at all with this board. It's there when you need it but not a problem.
Weaknesses
None yet.
Similar Snowboards Ridden
I've been riding a Never Summer Infinity for the past three years and I really like the rocker camber but I wanted a slightly stiffer board. I was looking at the Lotus which I've ridden and like a lot, but I ended up buying the Envi instead for the magna traction. OK-- and for the graphics too. I think the Envi feels similar to the Lotus. Both feel like a luxury car with shocks compared to the Infinity which is more like my old Mazda.
