| Review Detail |
I remember having the choice of a ROME 'something' or the ICON DS 158 at the time I was given extensive info about both at TSA by a very aware dude who really wasn't pushing either board for a sale. The catalogue review by TSA gave both very similar attributes to allow you to shred it up on the mountain or hit the park and have equally good fun and that is where I was at when I bought it.
The chioce was difficult when it came down to it as as i said they matched each other spec for spec so I went with the ICON as it sort of spoke to me!!! It was sort of based on everyone has a Rome board and are they that mass produced that theres no love in the making of it (rose tinted glasses I know - but we all believe boarding is a spiritual calling so dont knock me) and the other was graphics and basically at the time the Rome board was govered in graffiti which whilst cool on this occasion looked a bit too contrived if you know what I mean. The ICON on the other hand had a sleek gloss black finish with a faint cross hatched pattern that you could vaguely see with small text graphics located in the middle noting DS. I should mention that my initials are DS and therefor you may understand why it was calling me. One other major difference that the board had which definately makes it stand out is the flat nose and tail of the board where other regular board have a rounded profile this one doesn't. When you have a board with 'ICON' written on the bottom of it as well its always gonna makeyou feel good!!! |
