| Review Detail |
I have owned a couple pairs of bottom end boots and decided that I really needed something top end...but had to go mid as top was too expensive for my wallet. I remember hiring Salomon boots when I went on my first holiday and that they always had seemed better than my Burton boots. So I was happy to try them.
I tried on a pair of burtons, Vans and 32 (all around the £150-£200 mark). None seemed to fit my foot as well as the salomons, so I opted for them.
With the lacing system you can get them reasonably tight quickly. I don't think I'd ever buy boots with normal laces again. They are comfy whilst still feeling responsive.
Ok, here is the problem. The internal lining heel cup has short hairs/fur angled down wards to stop your heel from lifting. Good idea, except, when new, this "hair" is really abrasive! I didn't really notice it the first day, just thought that they needed broken in, but half way through the next day I could hardly walk (it only really hurt when I walked). The inside of both ankles (between the ankle bone and the achilles were red raw. I was gutted. Fortunately some plasters on the heels meant I could continue, but for the next couple of days it was uncomfortable. I believe that the hairs just needed to be worn in slightly and after a couple of days they should be fine, however my ankles were so raw that I needed to plaster them up every day for the next two weeks before putting the boots on. After they healed I was able to wear the boots without any protection.
Once the boots were broken in I'd give them 4 stars, but new they should only be classed 2-3 stars.
I'd be interested if anyone else had this problem, maybe I'm just a sensitive wee soul! |

Comfy (see weeknesses) Quick to do up Can get them reasonably tight. |

| Weaknesses |
Heel cup needs broken in. One of the handles on the lace broke easily so I can't stow it away. |
