| Went for 6 days, i think if you went for more than that you would start to get bored. |
|
| Strengths |
| Mainly quiet, good snow, good scenery. |
|
| Hot Spots |
| Ii cant remember any really apart from a run called internazionalle or sumin i think i remember some quite good off piste around there. |
|
| Weaknesses |
| Really small, no park. Loads of skiers compared to boarders, i think its more of a skiers resort, there were lots of flat spots which you had to walk which was a pain. |

Only went with a free pass from my Grand Massif season pass, so I can't really comment too much about the hors-piste stuff. Don't really understand the reputation of this place - maybe its the style factor, but as for the slopes, definitely not somewhere I'd be rushing back to.
Oh - Pay attention to the speed limit in the Mt. Blanc tunnel if you're coming from Chamonix - I didn't and it cost me EUR70 in bribes to the gendarmes. |
|
| Strengths |
- Very pretty ski domain: Views of the glacier, Mt. Blanc, lots of tree-lined runs, exposed rock
- Plenty of restaurants for good Italian food at reasonable prices
|
|
| Hot Spots |
| The itineraires (Cresta, etc) marked on the piste maps look interesting, but I got the impression there would have been a lot of walking involved at the end, plus you need fresh powder which is an issue (read "Weaknesses"). Not massively well marked itineraires either - unless you knew them already, I wouldn't want to do them without a guide. |
|
| Weaknesses |
- Tiny. s it me or are there actually only 3 or 4 pistes in this resort, with about 20 lifts criss-crossing those pistes to give the impression of more runs? Basically one valley and one side of that valley - I did pretty much every run in the resort in about 4 hours - you don't want to be here for more than a day or two if you can board
- Courmayeur is in the snow shadow of Mt. Blanc - I went on a day when we had had about 60cm of fresh snow in the Grand Massif over the previous week, in Courmayeur most of the slopes were stripped bare of any snow, ice everywhere
- Predominantly skiers, and bad skiers at that who are more interested in fashion and food than sport
- Italians don't do queuing - even more so than the rest of Europe - expect a free-for-all at the lift pass station
- Very old lift systems, expect queues given the large number of telecabines / telepheriques |

| In terms of scale, it is similar to Praz-de-Lys, but Praz-de-Lys is quieter, has better lifts and better snow. |

Its an ideal place to learn and to get to grips with snowboarding, the instructors are very good. Nicolo and Andrea are very helpful. Nicolo has some affliation with "Snow Blanc" he gave me advice on riding and how to set up my board. Its a very helpful place to start for beginner.
dont think its too expensive

| Dont go here for the nightlife, coz it sucks unless you like the quiet life and real expensive drinks in swish bars. Small resort that offers a good range of slopes, and lots of off piste in wooded areas if you know where to go. Lacks any freestyle parks or pipes, so your gonna have to build kickers yourself. Very little jibbing oppurtunties. Beware of the ration of skiers to boarders, about 95% to 5%. Very good for beginners / intermediate piste. Intermediate / advanced off piste. Ski passes relatively cheap. |
