We spent two weeks in NZ, on e on the North Island and one on the South based out of Lake Wanaka. We flew into Queenstown which was quite surreal flying into the Southern Alps was nothing like we were used to after numerous trips to the European Alps.
We stayed at The Pines in Lake Wanaka which was great, also tried a bit of fishing but didn't catch anything despite seeing the fish sitting there mocking us!!
This was our first boarding trip since our daughter was born (almost 3yrs) and son now (2 months) so were looking for resorts that would be child friendly.
Not to worry though Cardrona was great, loads of terrain, and great entertainmnet for the littlies. My daughter had her first ski lesson (still to young to learn to board, only take them from 5) but she loved it and me me running after her for the next hour. Not bad considering she was 2 yrs 9 mths.
The lifts are all older and can be compared to most Nrth American resort lifts. People were super friendly with quite a few Asians, Eurpeans and North Americans there training during their summer. |

| The dirt road from the main road up to the resort! We had a 4x4 which you don't need but the dirt turns to mud the higher you go! Imagine driving up to Meribel and the roads are dirt/mud!! Good Fun! |
