I have the 2010/2011 version, recommended as good beginner boots (not too soft, not too stiff) and - all importantly! - in pretty colors that matched my board.
With the addition of custom insoles to support my arches they're very comfortable boots. They served me well as a beginner, but as I've improved and started to demand more of them they're starting to let me down in ways that really impact my riding. This happens on two counts: 1) Despite being Burton boots and designed to fit with the Burton bindings, the boots don't always sit perfectly in the bindings. This may be an issue with the bindings, but it's something I have to check each time I strap the board on and gets annoying after a while. Basically, don't be fooled by the "Burton fit" claims. 2) They come undone! The lacing system is okay but not great. Having tried a pair of a friend's Vans boots on - wow, what a difference it is to have totally snug boots. The Bootiques are roomy, everywhere. So I'd say these are fine as beginner boots but when you start to progress and want more from your gear, you'll want something more reliable. |
