What a great week. From the start Steve and Dom had us pushing our riding, finding a cheeky off piste boulder drop with a blind run in - words of encouragement and a leap into the unknown bought the adrenaline rush followed by exhilaration in landing something new.
Morning warm-up on the trampoline and unicycle awoke muscles never before been used and stood us in good stead for a day on the hill. Rather than push hours and hours of riding, the emphasis is on quality not quantity with individual feedback and analysis meaning that there is always something to improve. By the end of the day after exploring the mountain, doing drills, hiking jumps, lapping the park and ripping secret lines there is little left in the tank for getting down the hill and falling into the traditional Austrian apres!
The accommodation was warm, friendly with excellent food! Everything was taken care of on the trip so it was just easy to chill out and enjoy the riding
Can't recommend enough! |

My first time in the camp was last year in Italy and I had to go back again this year. James, Steve and the crew create an environment that is challenging yet so much fun to learn new tricks. I've seen my boarding improve considerably within a week. I think it is great that there are multiple different locations to choose from so each year I can visit a different resort.
I can say without hesitation that BoardnLodge camps made me a much better rider. Thanks guys!
Look so much forward to the next one. |

This January i was fortunate enough to go on the Boardnlodge snowcamp sponsered by Animal to Nassfield, Austria. It was one of the best weeks snowboarding that I have ever experienced. This is mainly thanks to the organisers at Boardnlodge and Animal and the pro riders and coaches. I have never progressed as much as i did in the week on the snowcamp.
I got to try things that I never thought I would have the confidence to do on my own such as: Boxes, Boxes with gaps, kickers, 180's, 360's, backflips and frontflips just to name a few. The apres ski is also pretty cool.
I am definately going back next year.
Thanks guys at Boardnlodge and Animal |

I've been on 2 of the Boardn'lodge snocamps now and am planning on returning for a third. Both times there has been a great mix of people - some small groups of friends plus some individuals looking to hook up with some new riding buddies. This seems to lead to a great atmosphere both on and off the slopes. The campers were all serious boarders but without the badass freestyle attitudes, nothing but encouragement for each other which is one of the best things about these camps.
Coaching was always flexible and took account of the various levels with everyone split ito groups based on a combination of the type of riding we wanted to work on along with the various abilities. Mornings were generaly all about technical coaching with afternoons for practicing the skills and taking them to more challenging terain or the park. I've been riding around 15 years but found that when head coach Steve Addicott had tweaked my riding all sorts of new riding opportunities opened up.
If you want a bootcamp style camp with every second of the trip mapped out then this probably isn't for you. If you want a super fun and relaxed holiday with great coaching, great nights out and like minded people then I would highly recommend getting signed up. You'll have fun and your riding will improve hugely. |

Nassfeld 2011 camp was my second time riding on the BoardnLodge Animal camps and was a great week. The camps give a great blend of coaching and riding, and you get out of it what you put in. If you just want a chance to ride with like minded individuals, then the camp provides a good deal for lift passes, accommodation, brilliant group to ride with and top coaches/guides. If you are really focused on progression for riding, then you're with the right school. Coaching is provided by the brilliant Steve Addicott, and there are normally several other top pro riders from the UK to provide the encouragement and inspiration to really push yourself. Accommodation in Nassfeld is in a lovely chalet with great food, comfortable surroundings and the staff were all very friendly.
I would definitely recommend trying a camp yourself, and you'll soon be showing off videos to your mates of you doing flips, rotations and brilliant powder riding (snow permitting!!)
Nassfeld is a great resort for riding, with plenty to offer. Nightlife is quieter than other resorts out there, but good times are what you make them, and the Apres Boarding was a good laugh! |
