Axamer Lizum is not what you'd call a destination Resort. ie, you wouldn't come out here for a whole week as it is just too small to keep you entertained for that amount of time.
However, as part of a road trip holiday (we were staying in Innsbruck and visited several small resorts close to the city) it is well worth a day or two's exploration.
There is loads of great off piste, and we were there on a powder day, so it was pretty good fun. It's also very quiet, no lift queues, and you feel that you almost have the whole place to yourself.
When I was there (Winter 1999/2000), there was no fun park, but there was a small, poorly maintained pipe.
There is a little resturant at the top that serves up some fine Weiner Schnitzel.. highly recomended.
Apart from this and a small tee pee that serves Gluwien (mulled wine), there is nothing else here. (no real bars or shops). The actually town of Axams is a few miles away.
Definatley worth a visit if you're in Innsbruck. Has a nice laid back feel to it. |
