The second time snowboarding.ru and Russian Backcountry Team are organizing Summer Backcountry camp at the Elbrus Area.
Last year, in June 2001, 14 snowboarders visited Adyl-Sooh valley with the decision to find out with the helpof professional local guides possibility of summer backcountry snowboarding in this region. Achived results were:
- a lot of virgin snow at glaciars;
- backcountry snowboarding for gifferent level riders;
- safety of descents provided by professional local instructors who are working here for many years, and Russian frontier guards;
- possibility to make a tent camp at the foot of Mtn. Trapezia, Adyl Sooh valley, in a place called "Zelenaya Gostiniza" ("Green Hotel").
While that 10 days the 1st backcountry camp team visited 6 picks: Trapezia, Gumachi, Lykzyr, Aristov Peak, Chotchat and Dgantugan (3740-4100 above sea level). Ascent durations were from 4 to 6 hours walking from the camp point (2600 asl). In final team got to the top point of Elbrus.
This summer we managed 2nd backcountry camp. And now we can say - backcountry movement grows in Russian mountains. 2003 will become a great step forward.
We invite everybody who feels backcountry "desease" to take part in BACKCOUNTRY SNOWBOARDING CAMP ADYL-SOOH 2003!
Dates: single session, June, 1-12
Accomondation: Campers live in tents (sleeping bags, outdoor equipment required). In 2 recreation days among ascents days all camp goes doing to the valley, to the country where are meals (fresh milk, meat, fruits, etc.) and hot water (dousch) available.
Programm
During these days participants will manage ascents to 6 peaks: Trapezia, Gumachi, Lykzyr, Pik Aristova, Chotchat and Dgantugan for backcountry snowboarding. Programm may change in case of riders level and weather conditions. "Bonus track" - ascent to Elbrus.
