Leading manufacturer Venture Snowboards is releasing a limited edition snowboard to raise green issues. |
|
The manufacturer hopes the board will raise awareness of the dangers of climate change, and they have teamed up with the not-for-profit organisation POW (Protect Our Winters) to release the limited edition board.
The company launched a competition in conjunction with the charity to find a board design that promotes the importance of highlighting environmental concerns. And now the winning entry has been unveiled, with Canadian artist Julie Boake capturing the contest's themes of activism, winter and the environment most effectively.
The POW board will only be available by special order, and some of the proceeds raised by the board will go to supporting the organisation's work in reversing the effects of global warming.
Klemens and Lisa Branner, the owners of Venture, spoke about their dedication to promoting green issues:
"As snowboarders and outdoors people, we feel compelled to help protect the wild places that inspire us. It's always been a defining part of who we are and how we do business."
Chris Steinkamp, from POW, commented: "We're really excited to be partnering with Venture and appreciate their contribution to Protect Our Winters.
"Venture represents a new breed of snowboard manufacturers who realize that design, production and environmental sustainability can co-exist." |
