Treeline Chalets Review

It was the first time I'd walked into a chalet and actually made an uncontrollable-out-loud ‘wooooahh’. Chalet Laurent was literally one of the most incredible chalets I've ever stepped foot in – and I'd already only got through the front door!

Words - Kaz Willmer
Treeline Chalets are run by Amy and Duncan, one of the nicest couples involved in British Snowboarding, and they've set up a full-on chalet collaboration with Westbeach, Rome and Apo, giving you one of the best chalet set-ups you could imagine.

Chalet Laurent is one of three chalets run by Treeline in Morzine, set on the Rue d'Avoriaz overlooking the town below. With only four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a lounge area, games room, kitchen, dining area, and outdoor hottub, you'd think the chalet should be much smaller than it is – but it's huge.

Each bedroom has its own balcony with views over the valley, plus there's panoramic views from the dining area and lounge. Our bathroom was actually bigger than my bedroom at home, with two sinks, and an immense walk-in shower.

Set-ups like this would generally scare most younger snowboarders as you'd be forgiven to think how much it'd cost. But Treeline have managed to put together deals which are nowhere near as expensive as you'd think across chalets for all budgets – all while keeping the shredder vibe while you're at it.

Shred movies are always on the flatscreen in the lounge, as are tunes on tap when you want them. There's a well-stocked mini-bar fridge in the lounge, as well as comfy sofas for chilling in front of the fire.

But the ultimate chilling comes from the bubbling hottub on the massive deck outside, with unbelievable views of the whole valley. We chilled in the tub until we went wrinkly, just because we couldn't get over the whole experience of sitting in the 40 degree bubbles, snowflakes falling on our faces, while taking in the Morzine panorama in front of us.

Treeline is involved in sponsoring many UK riders, giving them fresh places to stay when they come train out in Morzine and Avoriaz, as well as helping them out with everything else they need when they're out there. I can namedrop Andy Nudds and Dom Harington as just a couple of the riders the Treeline guys look after.

What's more the Rome and Apo test centre at the chalets means you can test a whole range of Rome and Apo equipment while you're out there, as well as get your hands on some fresh Westbeach clothing – and get involved with the use of their GoPro headcams!

The setups are perfect for any type of guest – we were sharing with a young couple, two girl friends and an older family, all who were impressed by the setup and super friendly staff. To top it off, the food was amazing – breakfast, cake and dinner – plus the welcome champagne and canapes – treatment we really aren't used to!

I was super sad to leave the Treeline Chalet, and will more than miss waking up to that immense view from my bed every morning, coupled with being massively looked after by the super friendly staff. They were more than happy to not only make sure we were well fed, but also to have a chat, answer guests' questions, give us rides from the chalet door to the lifts, and even sort us out with some equipment to wax our boards.

I can't thank Duncan and Amy enough for putting us up in such an amazing chalet in such an immense location, and for the whole set-up they've put together with the minds of the riders they look after at the centre of what they do. We were more than looked after, and if it's good enough for some of the top riders in the UK, it's more than good enough for the rest of us too.
