The North Face has launched a fantastic interactive website, www.snowsafety.thenorthface.com, aimed at those of you who are heading off-piste this winter.
Though it is no substitute for an actual mountain safety course, it is a good place to start if you have never been snowboarding off-piste before.

The North Face are renowned for selling the best equipment for those hardcore skiers and snowboarders who love to go and find the perfect cornice or face to ride down. And now, they have gone one step further by offering you plenty of information and help online to assist you when it comes to venturing off into the backcountry.

Whilst you should always have some formal avalanche training before attempting anything out of your comfort zone, this website is a great way to test your knowledge of how to stay safe.

Each chapter features videos and tips from The North Face Global Team snow sports athletes (Xavier De La Rue, Giulia Monego, Ian McIntosh, Sage Cattabriga Alosa, Jimmy Chin, Mark Carter, Dana Flahr) and certified mountain guides.

Here is episode one from the website, to give you a taste of what is on offer.
