If you have ever been out and about in Mayrhoffen or are involved in the UK snowboarding scene you've no doubt come across the lively, bubbly, smiling Tai Lester. |
|
On the 1st January following an accident on the mountains in Mayrhoffen, Tai ended up in a coma for 16 days at Innsbruck University Hospital, Intensive Care Unit.
On the 18th January just 2 days after waking Tai was making amazing progress. Although she couldn't speak or swallow she had slight movement in both legs and arms. By 31st January Tai had made so much progress that she was transferred from Innsbruck back to the UK, much to the relief of her friends and family.
I am sure you will be pleased to hear that the determination and drive Tai had for life before the accident still remains. Following my visit last Thursday evening I can report that Tai can walk aided, move both her legs and arms, swallow, speak slowly and make a room full of people laugh! She still has a long way to go and is in both speech and physical therapy.
Now all she has to do is get off the net and get some rest!
You can leave your messages on Tai’s facebook wall which she is regularly checking as the messages really help her to focus on getting well again.
Well done Tai we're all behind you!!
Tai was not wearing a helmet when she had her accident. If you don’t have a helmet yet why not check out Brain Bucket and get yourself one today. |
