Cough…splutter…welcome to sick note week 5! It seems as though EVERYONE has been under the weather this week, some much worse than others. We have had duvets, Lemsips and cough sweets galore. The weather has defiantly added to the bug this week with yet another staggering -20 degrees for most of the week, plus wind chill just to add to the bitterness. We even had Anne and Henry sent off the hill because of frost nip. |

But all the sniffling aside, it was business as usual out on the slopes with yet another full on week training and for most, another week shadowing lesson groups. The feedback received – from paying customers, no less! – about everyone is a tribute to them. They have been described as courteous, knowledgeable, positive and professional. The shadowing exercise provides a real mix of experience across different ages, gender and experience, ranging from small children and families learning to ski to middle-aged guys just wanting to work on their technique. It has been a great trial run for next week when the school holiday ski and snowboarders set upon Méribel in their masses and everyone will have to be on top form for the instructing.

Yet again this week, we were there cheering on the mighty Méribel Hockey team but with not the same success as last time – they lost 11-6. The standard and speed of this game was better this week which added to the excitement. In typical fashion there was more of the loud boisterous banter I’ve grown to love from the SnowSkoolers before it was off to our favorite pizza promo to top of the night.
Some of the boarders (Jack, Ryan and Tim) have been stepping it up this week in the DC park by hitting the large 25ft kickers and the newly shaped half-pipe. The rest played in the moon park on the boxes, kickers and the boarder cross, which was great fun to race down, four at a time … unless you stack it like Guy Golding (sorry, but it was a good crash!)
Thursday night we had the dance hall vibe. There was an awesome DJ called A-skills throwing down a sick set in Dicks Tea Bar. Guy, Dom, Brogan, Hannah, Sam, Ben, Ryan, Henry and I danced like lunatics and laughed like hyenas till the early hours of the morning. Probably not the best night to stay out late as this coming weekend, we have the first pub golf tournament.

Because of a lot of illness we deferred going over to Val Thorens until next week, once everyone’s had a bit more recovery time for the tobogganing which does conveniently coincide with Tom Wilmott’s birthday!
So hopefully with new vigor and a clean bill of health, we head into Week 6 – nearly half way through the course!
So again from me and the SnowSkool team, a fond farewell till next week.
