The International Ski Federation have recommended the introduction of snowboard slopestyle onto the 2014 Winter Olympics schedule in Sochi.
The FIS have consulted with the IOC to seek approval for the event's inclusion in 2014, the first time a Winter Olympics event has been held on Russian soil.

The federation believe the presence of slopestyle and several other events at Sochi will be warranted as it is, in their words, "very youth-driven and will appeal to future generations".

The IOC has already taken a number of steps to account for the popularity of slopestyle, with plans to introduce it at the inauguaral Winter Youth Games in Innsbruck in 2012.

Speaking about the plans, Stuart Brass, from the British Snowboarding Federation, told the BBC:

"If snowboard slopestyle is accepted as an Olympic discipline, we'd have fantastic medal hopes from the UK with the likes of Jenny Jones who is already ranked as the best slopestyle rider in the world.

"And in less than four years' time we'd have a whole host of young talent including Jamie Nicholls who is already achieving top 10 results at the age of just 16.

"Slopestyle is a discipline which can be practiced, particularly the rail and obstacle elements, at any of the UK slopes and as such we have these training facilities all year round regardless of weather."

well im not sure if they will get this included if the "waiting list" and balance of Board/ski related events "rule" is upheld, but i for one would love to see it, and i think it would give UK riders a great chance to get into this discipline from grass roots... as we dont have many Half Pipes in England ;)
