Here’s the update for all you kids who aren’t in the know. The future of Ski Rossendale hangs in the balance, Rossendale Borough Council no longer has the money to continue to fund the slope and so they have decided to try and get rid. This decision was made last year and although, there has been lots of interest, the Council is yet to sell the slope and so it looks as though the slope may close March 31st 2011. |

There is a group of Ski instructors who have tried to put forward a bid as a Social Enterprise group to try and turn the slope into a member’s type facility, with certain grants and funding available, such as Norfolk Ski Slope for instance. This is currently up in the air and the Council is considering the bid.
Rossendale Borough Council is holding a public meeting tonight, which is the 26th January 2011, and they are going to announce the future of Ski Rossendale so fingers crossed it’s the right answer.
In the mean time what you guys need to do is come and ride Ski Rossendale in the next few months, show an interest and sign the petition to keep it open, you can keep yourselves updated on the Facebook page ‘Save Ski Rossendale’, its got all the info about the petition, links to council updates and also talks about the new Social Enterprise bid.
Hopefully everything goes well and Britain’s oldest artificial ski slope doesn’t close, because I know I’ll be gutted along with many others for many different reasons, mine being the kicker is sick. Haha.
