After a year’s absence New Zealand will again be hosting the opening of the FIS Snowboard World Cup this weekend. |
|
In the past few years they have hosted the halfpipe competition, but last year the southern hemisphere was left off the calendar.
Some of the world’s best snowboarders, including Australian reigning world champions Holly Crawford and Nathan Johnstone, will be in action at the Cardrona Alpine Resort, situated between Wanaka and Queenstown.
Among the male competitors are Swiss trio Iouri Podladtchikov, Patrick Burgener and Christian Haller, Japanese Ryo Aono, Norwegians Staale Sandbech and Tore Holvik plus Finns Antti Autti and Janne Korpi.
The women's event will see 2011 World Cup champion Xuetong Cai of China, Japanese Haruna Matsumoto, Norwegian Linn Haug, and American Hannah Teter. |
