Manchester's indoor real snow centre will launch the 'Snow Stars Talent Contest' in a bid to unearth new talent. |
|
The contest will see 8-11 year olds invited to join a free taster session in either snowboarding or skiing, where selected individuals will be picked to take part in a beginner tuition course to further develop their interest in a wintersports hobby.
And the three best participants can expect a further prize of £1,000 worth of free coaching to encourage their participation and development.
Chill Factore have introduced the scheme as a means of exposing the next generation to a sport they may never have contemplated trying before. It follows a survey by Sport England which revealed a year-on-year decline in the number of 16-34 year olds taking part in snowsports.
Commenting on the initiative, Stephen Evans, the Chief Executive of Chill Factore revealed:
"Over the last 12 months we have seen more than 1500 schools visit Chill Factore and experience the range of snowsports on offer.
“We are working closely with Snowsport England to give more people the chance to experience skiing and snowboarding and to also help talented athletes to progress.” |
