Snowboard stars are descending on Wanaka for the forthcoming 2010 Burton New Zealand Open. |

Snowboarders will be desperate to seize the opportunity of early season points at the New Zealand Open, which kicks off on at Cardrona Alpine Resort on the 10th August and runs through to the 14th August.
The Burton event is the second 5 star rated event of the 2010-2011 TTR Tour season, and will see competition take place place in both halfpipe and slopestyle events.
With a prize fund on offer of NZD $50,000, riders will be looking to gain an early season windfall.
Gjermund Braaten of Norway currently holds the No 1 spot in the TTR rankings, but he is sure to face a strong challenge from up-and-coming Canadian Mark Morris (currently No. 2) and talented American Chas Guildemond.
The women's field also looks strong for this year's event. Two former champions will be in the mix in the form of Jamie Anderson and Enni Rukajärvi, with Kjersti Buaas and Sina Candrian also expected to be in the running for podium places. |
