Blog post: Wednesday at the Burton European Open

What an incredible day at the Burton European Open in Laax. The comps may have been cancelled for the day due to the weather, but everyone still had massive fun. The powder was waist-deep in places and once the sun broke through the clouds, Laax was pretty much perfect.

After waiting for the storms to clear sipping tea in the Riders Lounge, we spent the day lapping the super long run from the No Name Bar down to the centre of Laax, hitting the immense park along the way. The snow was super soft and it was just as fun riding as it was watching the international pro riders jibbing off whatever they could
find along the side of trails or under lift lines. Watching steezy methods being thrown off windlips was probably one of my favourite moments.

Safety obviously wins every time, so once the conditions called the slopestyle events off, they used the semi-finals scores from the slopestyle yesterday to fill the podium spots. My super hero Torstein Horgmo was in first place, followed by Mark McMorris and Sebastian Toutant, who all won pretty rad hand-carved wooden trophies, as well as novelty prize cheques which would all wipe the Crap bar dry many times over.

The halfpipe setup was looking pretty sweet today, and we've been promised it'll run tomorrow, so we're super looking forward to getting out there again. For now, the snow has returned and we're expecting another blanket of fresh powder tonight, while everyone's checking out the live music in the Riders Palace Club.
