I'm short, trying to decide between the Burton Clash 2012 (145cm, adult) and the Burton Hero Smalls Snowboard (142cm, kids)
I'm quite short, shoulder 137, chin 140 & nose 144.
I've rented the Burton Clash 2012 in 145 before, and that was fine. But the kids board is cheaper, I prefer the design and the waist & tip widths are identical.
Can I get away with the kids board, and could stick adult bindings on it (size 7/8)? |

It doesn't really matter how tall you are, your weight is mostly what matters, plus how good a rider you are. The weight ranges are published for both boards - they kid's board has a narrower recommended range but the middle of the range is similar. As you know the kids board is generally smaller in several of the metrics.
You'd have to ride them both to see which works best - you can't tell (because there's no standard metric) how the flex is engineered. They're both small boards.
Ride them and see. |
