Hi folks,
I was at the CFe yesterday after about a month of not going and they had 2 boxes set out. One was quite high off the ground as they normally have and the other was a low wide box which looked ideal for a newbie to have a go on. I set myself up to take it on, tried it a few times throughout the day and failed every time!
I thought it'd be a bit like riding the snow, just aim stright keep knees bent and try land off the end, but it seemed to stick towards the end of the box which threw me off and had me bailing out!
Got a few bruises to show for my efforts today but nothing like I was worrying about, have been looking at trying them for a while, just been waiting for the low box to be set out.
Wondered where I was going wrong, although I know it's hard without watching me do it, just wondered if I could get some advice on how to tackle these things?

Also any advice as to why I felt my board sticking towards the end of the box?

Hopfully they'll have that box out again next time I go so i can try again

sicky boxes ( ) are a bit of a pain. You just need to carry a bit more speed into them and be prepared for the slow down

Phew, there was me thinking it was my recent wax to my board or something!
Is there anyway to tell a box will be sticky? At least I know now that the CFE one is!

no way of knowing really, even watching people can be deceptive as if someone hits it quickly enough the effect will be un-noticable.

only way is to ask really.....

the difficult bit is that just because its sticky one week, doesnt mean its always that way

Good thing I read this topic, I'm going to be having a go on the boxes soon, when they are next out at Chill (my first time on them aswell).
Is it the entire width of the box, or is one side stickier than the other?

No way of knowing really, I've normally experienced it as a patch on the box that is sticky maybe due to some dirt or gunk that is catching the board. Take enough speed into the box and you'll be OK. As with most things snowboard related, speed is your friend!

It was that wide flat 'butter' box that was sticky that day I was there. It seemed to just be the whole width of the box in the last quater. Looking back I probably wasn't hitting it quick enough

If you realise it's a bit sticky on say your first hit then you can always ride past it next time and chuck a bit of snow on it to help make it more slidey again (or get a mate to do it just before you hit it next time)

My advice:

1. approach the box as fast you can, 60kph should do it.
2. Keep your legs straight.
3. Arms by your sides.
4. Eyes closed.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Satire aside, that would be some sick ass style. The Anti-Steeze!

LOL it's true. Entire rainbow rails totally disappear when done that way ... rail? which rail?
(Never works well on a curved C-rail though )
