Me no likey digital zoom. Just ordered my Xacti WH1.

There's pretty much no point in digital zoom if you're going to be editing the video. You don't get any closer shots! The camera picks up the same image but lessens the pixel resolution and scales up; so the same information captured by on pixel gets spread across 4 or more - thus decreasing the size of the captured image, and also decreasing the quality at the same time. If you want digital zoom do it in video editing software, then you can decide what gets cut out the view.
You're never too old to give it a try.

Thanks,
I was liking the idea of the pistol grip to make it easier to use whilst riding and with gloves.
Anyother pistol grips worth looking at?

How bad is the focus on it? not being a serious film maker (obviously) would it annoy me?

My replacement for the (defective) Contour HD has arrived today.

It's a GoProHD, and is a cracking bit of kit. Fully waterproof case too that comes with, so can't wait to get away on holiday! Does HD in 30fps & 60fps, as well as time-lapse photo too.

Not a camcorder as such, but top quality for what seems to be a tough bit of kit that i don't have to worry about dropping or getting wet.

Sample vid here :

We hired a POV whilst in Morzine this year, it worked perfectly and fitted the goggle strap nicely, after a while I kinda forgot that it was there. Our group has been looking at buying one but put off by the £600 price tag, the Contour HD looks like a good cheaper alternative but to me it looks a little bulky, have you tried the cam on with your helmet and gogs? How does this fit and feel?
