QUOTE (itsgot - 12/04/2010 @ 19:42) PRO teaching an intermediate lesson when all they wanna do is ride some cool sh*t CON having to work an extra job because your career doesn't pay enough Yeah I've re-thought this... I suppose it depends on the level of the instructor. My mate is one of only 2 instructors in Breck who can take people through Park Lane... so essentially he just rides with future Shaun Whites all day, which if you can get over the ginger hair, is pretty cool. |

Con: not being able to wear your uniform in the bar where it would do the most good |

It's mostly been said, but having to spend a lot of time teaching beginners would sound like something of a negative. Hanging out on the beginner slope isn't really my idea of fun. You're going to need level 4 before it gets interesting.
But that's only a problem if you're expecting to replace riding with teaching; if you're just looking at it as a way to earn money in a resort, well pretty much all the other jobs sound less amusing. Although many people won't have the people or riding skills.
"Guide" looks even better. |

i don't agree with that, very few people have level 4 or even 3,
for example pro ride in whistler have one level 4 instructor and i believe everyone else is level 2 with a few freestyle qualifications knocking about... |

The most fun job in US resorts is lift "supervisor"
I got to ride every day before and after hours, spent the day riding between lifts, giving a few lunch breaks, AND getting to play with snowmobiles.
Lots of riding and lots of fun!
(Only problem is there's not too many of them jobs available!!) |

Its a hard life , my office sucks when its -40, and a 45 min journey to the mtn every day! Its all about commmitment! Im training for my level 3, always learning, I get training every morning and get a fair bit of freeriding in! |

With CASI we also have Arbor pro deals and next season I think Bataleon are on board.
No one's mentioned that once you get to Level 3, you can teach others to teach, and teaching Level 2 intermediate/advanced boarders is basically getting paid to shred all of the mountain every day, no bunny slopes there just good times. |
