Being all out of wax remover, and wanting to wax my board before hitting up a dome, are there any alternatives that would work instead of wax remover? Or is it best to suffer with a slow base for a few hours and get some proper stuff? Can you even get away with just waxing straight off without cleaning the base up first?

Apply a little wax, iron.... then just as it starts to solidify, scrape..... This will clean the base of your board (called "hot scraping")

Then wax as normal.

If time is not on your side, just wax as normal, you are not going to harm your board with a little dirt, but give it a good hot scrape/base clean later on.

I'm not too sure how I know this, but nail varnish remover works pretty well. White spirit does the job too, but is a bit brutal really.
If it wasn't right the first time, why the hell would it be right the next ten times?!

I use gravy... or the juice out of a kidney bean can. Either will do the job.
