i am looking at making a short film either in the domes around the uk or on the slopes in scotland at some point. i am looking for any boarders that feel they have what it takes to make a kick ass film. the film will be purely for free internet viewing and can be used by riders as a "sponsor me" style video if you wish. also anyone who has any awesome footage that would look good in a short movie from anywhere in the world that wants to contribute it and have it incorporated and shown in the film are more than welcome to do so.

anyone got any thoughts??

yeah man i'd be down for that. what sort of angle would it be slanted towards, like a UK indoor riders film of their local slopes? a tour of the UK with a select group or a general look at the UK scene as a whole?

I think most people would be keen to get involved, you'd be best just checking out freestyle night dates, sending out a message to people and getting down to the domes and just shooting the people you reckon are worth it or sorting out a group of people to work with, speak to the local shops from each slope for their support either financially or in other ways and use their riders perhaps... how are you planning to finance it? what would you be filming and editing with?

Has potential to be a pretty sick project, the UK scene is buzzing at the moment, the riding level has suddenly taken off again and theirs soooo many new names coming through its hard to keep track or who's who.

hey dude thanks for taking such an interest. it would be filmed primarily in HD but obviousley there will have to be SD inserts in there although i have a canon xl2 at my disposal so the oppourtunity for it to be ultra high quality SD is an option. i will be editing on final cut 7 studio. I am looking at representing the uk scene as a whole but obviousley the best place to start is going to be indoor events and then maybe branching out in a series of small vids/shows. As far as financing goes at the moment it would be financed from my own pocket. I would like to approach local shops and centres for possible financial help but i need a solid basis to work from and a strong plan to show them in order for anyone to commit which is understandable. i hope i can build a solid following in favour of this idea and as much help and support as i can get as the more people that get involved the more chance there is that this could take off and be a bit of fun for everyone involved as well as having an awesome vid to show for it at the end of it all.

yeah totally! HD and Final Cut 7 Studio... youre not messing about! good work! out of interest what camera are you filming with?

Yeah agreed, have a think about what it is you'd like and i'll give you my thoughts on it all and also have you thought about getting a facebook group together also. most of the people you'd want to film will take far more interest on there than they will on here. draw up this proposal and idea on a facebook group, send me the link and ill bat it about among people in the UK scene. I could get a tonne of riders involved, however a lot of them are not interested in the behind the scenes work so have very little to offer in terms of creative and constructive ideas, trust me, ive worked with or for the benefit of the majority of them.

As far as indoor events go theres not many comps as they are generally reserved for the summer when the most people are around,in particular the Westbeach Snowflex series is a breeding ground for some of the best UK talent around along with the British Snowtour. Despite this there are however a truck load of freestyle nights and sessions going on. Pat Sharples Grom Camps for starters is a great place for young talent, mostly skiing, but talent none the less. Otherwise check out Hemel, CAS and ChillfactorE for definate! i would say MK but i hate the attitude of people there. such a horrible atmosphere, too many pre madonas!

I'd be well up for riding and getting involved in any organising work that needs doing such as events and assembling an army of riders.

realistically camerawise i have access to a canon xl2 SD camera whenever so thats good for promo stuff and a short preview. and then i can get hold of an XLHa1 HD canon or similar. realistically at the moment its a beg, borrow, steal situation whatever i can get my hands on i will use. I have a certain amount of kit that i can lay my hands on all the time so.......

I am a rider myself as well as a video maker so i understand how most riders are just interested in being on film instead of having any hand in production. This for me is not an entirely bad thing as i have a trusted crew hat i can call on for different skills and such. i will draw up proposals and stuff in the next couple of days and post the facebook page link up here as well as whoring it out around the net.

so what have you done in regards to this sort of thing before then??

Remember you have to get permisson to film in a dome as well as sign a disclaimer with the managment before you step on the slope with any sort of camera equipment. You also have to wear a high vis vest for insurance purposes.
