Guys,
Did a BS switch 180 yesterday.. well it was a BS Switch 90 and landed at right angles to the slope forcing all my weight through my ankles. After about an hour i came down as i was feeling some discomfort in my right ankle and rubbed in some arnica cream and took some ibuprofen and got a good nights rest. Got up this morning and felt tip top - flexed the ankle and put some weight on it but only after 2 runs at speed i could feel my right ankle (i ride goofy) and when we went on a red it gave in and i felt the pain again..
My question is what next? It feels fine when i walk and i can stand on my tip toes but it seems when i strap in and board on my front side edge i can feel pain when boarding on anything other than flats which basically the whole mountain...
There are still 3 full days left???
Has this happend to anyone else??
Update, when i just stand in my binding stance and flex my knees over my toes - i can feel it!! |

I'd be popping pain killers containing ibuprofen and trying to ride through the pain. Take it easy and don't over do it. See how it reacts later. I'd also ice it up when you've finished for the day.
If it's too painful to ride through the pain then you could practice your switch riding and see if that helps. |

Over our two weeks in Jan, all 3 of us had some sort of strain or another, some more than once.
We used Voltarol gel on the injured areas. This stuff had been recommended to me. Its an anti inflammatory and was brilliant. None of us lost a day through injury, although I was sure I would after a similar ankle strain to you. My damage was a tendon on the outside of my leg that ran from my Achilles to my calf muscle. The gel sorted it overnight.
You should be able to get some from a pharmacy.
Try some very gentle stretches too, to stop it all seizing up. |

QUOTE (PhilConsequence - 10/02/2010 @ 14:35) with regards to taking anti-inflamitories (ibroprufin)... dont forget you can also take paracetamol or if you're feeling daring co-cocdamol/paracodal (paracetamol with that handly little dash of codiene) at the same time as they're in different drug groups and are safe to take together just remember to eat as you dont want to be taking painkillers on empty stomach and dont take any additional things containing paracetamol like lempsip or calpol Word, but if you're taking Nurofen then be careful doing the above as some of the products contain both... |

yeah never ever buy Nurofen, theyre one of the 5 superbrands in the world for a reason, because people seems to think they're better than other cheaper brands that contain exactly the same ingredients. I've also never come across a pill that contains iburofen and paracetamol.......... |

Very little point in taking the painkillers with codeine, the amount added is so small it's just a marketing gimmick.
Diclofenac is great pain killer to take for these type of injuries, I tweaked my ankle on holiday and took Diclofenac to get through, only missed one afternoon. Don't forget that you can't drink and take paracetamol, you'd be surprised at how little you need to do yourself some serious damage. |

The macho part of me would say ride through it! the sensible head would say take a days rest, painkilling works but the ankle is still weak, similarly your causing more problems, depending on where you are you maybe able to get a cortizone injection, bad news really but you can keep riding!
