I'm looking to get a tripod before my next trip away, could someone tell me if this will be ok for use in the snow with my DSLR? And if not, why and what should I be looking for?

Looks alright, you might find that the head won't lock very tightly, that type are a bit wobbly.

I have to ask why you're bothering taking a tripod though. The only reason I ever take a tripod is to mount a flash on, I don't tend to need a tripod. I suppose you might want one for sequences but I tend to prefer single frames because they nearly always look better unless it's an amazing sequence.

If you want a tripod for general use then you're much better off with a sturdier, more stable one even if it does weigh more.

Just for sequence shots. Got a few amazing single shots last year but I'd quite like to get some better sequence shots this time round.

you really dont need a tripod for sequence shots, you can hold the camera still enough for such a short time easily and they always need a bit of photoshoping anyway. I only take one for video never for stills. With tripods its generally the rule that the heavier and more sturdy the better, especially if your cameras weighs a bit.

What they said. You don't even want. need to hold the camera still usually - just pan with the rider, then stitch it together afterwards. That does look like a fairly light tripod, which may not be a lot of use. It's a big problem as the light stuff is generally useless, and the heavy gear too heavy to carry.
