transport in les arcs?
Posted 10/03/2010 @ 16:05
hello
does anyone know about transport between 2000 and 1800, as we are a group of friends but have ended up in different accom, and would like to know in the evenings if we can meet up some how?
I know the buses only run till 7.40pm but does anyone know if taxis run between the two? and how much they might be?
thanks

Free buses run from the various arcs car parks all day, and reasonably far into the evenings.
We often boarded beyond the times the lifts were open and got back to arc1950 and 2000 on these.
Taxi sounds like an expensive option. Probably better to meet at 2000 at the end of the day, have some beers and do some night-boarding while pissed

I'm only going on previous holiday experience (though about to go out there for the rest of the season from Monday)....
From what I've seen, the transport in Les Arcs seems to be it's downside. As obviously the buses don't run all the time. Staying in Bourg for example, the only way at night to get up to one of the resorts is by someone driving or taking a Taxi. I never took a taxi as I heard they are silly expensive.
Between 1950 & 2000 there is only 50 meters! Infact they look so close together when you are on the slopes that I assume you could probably just walk between them? On the road or maybe some other route?
Getting from 2000 to 1800 is a different story though, you couldn't ride it because I believe you have to take a chair lift to get your back over the otherside of the mountain. It's also a very long way to go in the dark.

Yes absolutely [I was kinda kidding on the night boarding thing between 1800 & 2000>
There is a small gondola that runs between Arc2000 and Arc1950. It was running at 7.30ish - not sure how late it runs to.
It's perfectly boardable at night too - sometimes they even have the floodlights on for night-boarding on the piste between the two villages too.
From Bourg to Arc1600 you have the funicular which runs on the same Paradiski lift pass. Not sure when that shuts in the evenings.
Then there's the buses.
