Once you get it you get a bouncy feeling through the turn as you go from fore to aft and back to aft. You can then turn on a sixpence without the need for ruddering ;-)

Bob,

Riding technique seems to have come on a hell of a long way since I learned to board. Where do you work in the UK? I might like to get a few technique brushing up lessons at some point before next winter. There's a lot of stuff you talk about which I think I am doing but have never been taught to do and have never put a name to it so I am probably not doing it that well.

Sorted. I'll be in touch. Tamworth's not too far from me. Won't be for a while though but some time before next season. Feel free to mock my Flow bindings.

Just remembered my board is in Wales though. I'll have to sort that out.

I will do but I hope for your sake you haven't got a Libtech Skate Banana or you'll be in for even more mocking!

It started snowing again over night, and according to the forecast, it's due to keep going for the next week!

The only slight problem was that it made today's training session a little tricky! Practising early edge changes and steeps on pistes with 6cm of fresh fluffy pow on wasn't ideal! Still, I'm not complaining, we hit some tree runs after lunch, and they're shaping up nicely, so we all know what I'll be doing this weekend!

So its been snowing all day again, with very high winds at the top of the hill. So high in fact that the top has been closed all day, and the vast majority of the lifts shut this afternoon. These winds are due to stick around for a couple of days, but it should die down soon after that!

Shadowed a lesson this morning with 2 of the most enthusiastic clients ever, was great fun to help them out on their first day away from the nursery slopes. Assuming the lifts are running in the morning, I shall be shadowing their lesson again, more to see them improve than to gain teaching experience.

After that, its straight to the Secret Park Party to help shape the park; a few beers, a couple of hits on the kicker before heading back into town to meet Fox_C!

Hey Polaroid...
Sounds like you are having a great time. I have just started a new thread, me and the hubby braving Bansko for a late season break, arriving 17th March. I was after some tips about where's good to eat/drink, and also exactly how much stuff costs, we are coming self catering but I have no idea how much cash to bring.

Any clues you could give would be really appreciated, I hope you are spending most of your time on the mountain, but if you get some down time and could help me out that would be great.
Whose round is it?

Go and pay Stevie G a visit at his Barbeque, theres a signpost and a little run through the trees to get to it on the runs from the mid station on the Gondola. Best place to get warm food on the mountain, and the guy is a character!!

even better than that is to follow the sign to the BBQ, but head right up the road a couple of minutes, then you get to Izvorite Hotel; cheap, cheerful, complimentary garlic bread, and more importantly, a freestyle park with parties every Wednesday! (admittedly todays probably wasn't too hot, there was far too much fresh powder about!)

Talking of powder, the last few days have been truly awesome! powder on the pistes, waist deep in the trees and the top of the mountain was finally opened today! Our training session today was cancelled as there was simply too much snow to attempt anything, so the full 20+ of us went for a shred! 3 runs through the powder at the top, with everybody riding flat out, face shots for each of us on almost every turn; absolutely awesome! Then Ash told us about a way into the trees off of the side of a run that is currently closed in prep for the FIS Downhill World Cup in couple of weeks. Nobody had been in there for a few days (apart from Ash & Gary) so the snow was waist deep and untouched! Greatest run of my life through there, came out in goosebumps as I was riding down, the only time thats ever happened!

Absolutely shattered now, so having an early night, need to be up in the morning to do it all again!

Thoroughly enjoyed my time in Bansko, very sad to be home!
Didnt' much like the touts outside some of the bars/restaurants, but just ignored them.
Was very lucky with the snow, and it pretty much made the trip.
Cheers to Polaroid and his fellow BASI 2ers for hanging out and showing us the sweet runs!
:D
There are only 2 positions in snowboarding....one is looking coooool....the other is....DEAD!

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40 and zip ties
