Practice Practice Practice!
Sometimes really small things can alter your riding altogether. Try little things like getting the posture correct and you'll feel much more comfortable on your board and in your ability. Keep everything well stacked, back straight, knees wide, head up facing the way your travelling, arms by your side and you'll feel the difference. as for 'shunting' your back foot, next time you ride keep your front arm pointing towards the nose and the back arm pointing towards the back. If you can manage to do this all the way down its most likely that you didn't swing your back foot out as your upper body will be mirroring the board movements when moving. try keeping the weight centred if going straight. maybe slight pressure on the front as this will make it easier to turn out of the fall line. gradually make your time in the fall line slightly bigger and you'll get used to the speed, maybe even go back to a falling leaf exercise if needed to gain that extra confidence going straight. I suppose another thing to do would be to get some extra lessons, there is no shame in taking more lessons to improve in anything, yes they can be expensive, but paying to go for recreation time several times and getting nowhere will work out far more expensive then taking maybe 1 or 2 lessons and improving a lot.
hope it helps! let us all know how things go and if you feel you have improved! |
