Very Familiar! I know its a heated debate but depends on people what risks they are willing to face. |

Great share! was a very touching film (although i didnt mange to get time to watch it till the end just now I'll have to finish it later). Not sure exactly what went wrong but it's a cold reminder of how a simple helmet can save you from such a serious injury! |

It has never been a debate for me, wearing a helmet when boarding is as natural as wearing gloves.
In fact it was the only thing I was disappointed with in thats it thats all is that they didnt seem arsed about helmets. Woulda hoped they would set a better example. For anyone who has seen the 'carnage' section in the outtakes you will know that they arent good enough to justify not wearing helmets! |

Have to agree, a really touching vid there and a great share. IMO it should be helmet first then the rest of your kit on when boarding.

Luckily helmets seem to be more and more common nowadays. The skiers seemed to be slower to follow boarders for some reason, maybe it's because we are so irresponsible and reckless in the minds of skiers so they didn't need them as much as us.
You don't just need to be in a park to hit your head, most serious injuries are caused by recreational skiers and boarders in collisions with other recreational skiers and boarders or snow cannons and things like that. We've seen that already in the vid that was posted on here recently with the guy that nearly lost his leg when he collided with his mate. If his head hit the other guy rather than his leg and he didn't have a lid on he might a have a little bit of a headache!
Different scenario but about 8 years ago while downhill mtbing I took a jump wrong and went straight over the handlebars. I broke my collar bone, upper arm, shoulder blade and my helmet. That would have been my skull! Had I not been wearing a lid, I'd be f&@ked! |

I can add to this helmet situation a local concreat skate park down road from my house has just enforced a helmet rule due to my mate going over a kicker and dropping about 9foot onto his head he was unconscious for the best part of a week and is now thankfully on the mend.he is struggling to regain his balance and general motor skills but even he now realises that if he wore a helmet this accident may have been far less serious.
The thing is people always think that it will never happen to them or there friends until its too late and something serious happens. Broken arms and legs can be fixed but your head is far more complex and if you damage that you not only change your own life but everyones around you too.
So play it cool guys and cover your melon |

I hit my head in chamonix last year , cut the side of my face open and got concust while wearing a helmet. I dread to think what might have happened if I wasnt wearing one. |
