QUOTE (Abrakfkingdabra - 02/03/2010 @ 20:39) If you are trying to do some sort of marketing analysis, i think you will find that people buy brands based on the image they are into first, and the cost second As opposed to how the boards actually ride... I think you're right, but it's a weird way to spend money.
I ride a lot of boards, but the whole brand thing is just BS I'm afraid... there are good and bad boards from every manufacturer, and there are boards which work for me from some. I suppose it's the same as everything else... some people buy the marketing. |

To many ppl when purchasing a board or car get hung up on BIG NAME BRANDS , if all boards were white ...and you had to ride it b4 you bought it alot of ppl wpould actually buy smaller brands cos that board was best for them ..Same with cars ................we did a car demo day , ppl tried the skodas and loved them but said ooooh no i want a vw duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur same thing , different badge
Had so much fun that day doing passenger rides in a SKODA ROOMSTER google them , wicked fanny magnet of a car |

Okay, Skoda and VW are owned by the same parent company and the engines and chassis's are largely the same but the interiors are poles apart in terms of quality of plastics. I test drove the Skoda, SEAT and VW (amongst others) and they were very different inside. |

Holy sh!t, that board probably needs a flight control computer to keep it aerodynamically stable. It also looks like something a Power Ranger would ride. Can you buy shares in that thing? I'm in. |

I suppose it's the same as everything else... some people buy the marketing. Yeah thats what i meant - people buy kit based on how cool they think it is, and what marketing bullshit they have swallowed. The majority of people ide a board that is wrong for them, but fortunately as long as you have the length and waist width right, then pretty much any board will do, especially if you think it is the best thing since sliced bread.
I never trust board reviews on here either, because its so subjective - one mans poison is anothers pleasure, and most people on here havent ridden long enough, well enoough, or know enough about board design and mechanics to give a proper view. |

Case in point being a recent review of a Heli snowboards on SCUK by someone who had only ever ridden a rental. That review is now in the Trash... |
